Could Your Heartbeat Light Up Brindleyplace?
An exciting opportunity to be part of one of the Birmingham Light Festival artworks.
This year Birmingham Light Festival invites you to be part of a very special artwork coming to Brindleyplace. The Heartbeat of Brindleyplace by idontloveyouanymore will be located in Oozells Square for 2026 Edition of the festival.
Part of a wider project, The Matter of The Heart, the artwork features a series of glowing, pulsating light boxes - the live heartbeats of local people in real time. Each heartbeat is accompanied by a name and a personal story, sharing a unique connection to Brindleyplace.
We’re looking for people who have a special connection to Brindleyplace to share their heartbeat with us during the festival. If you have a cherished memory of a time spent in Brindleyplace or a story rooted in the area then we want to hear from you.
What’s involved?
Selected participants will need to visit Brindleyplace on 8 or 9 February to meet the artist and collect your special heart rate wristband.
You’ll then need to commit to wearing the wristband between 6–10pm each evening of the festival, from 12–15 February 2026, allowing your heartbeat to be transmitted live and transformed into a magical pulsating light box on display in Oozells Square.
